Activism

Since August 2018 the Centre for a Compassionate Society has been writing a weekly letter to the Australian Prime Minister and relevant politicians protesting our government’s inhumane treatment of refugees.

Text for the weekly letter can be found HERE – feel free to copy the text from the page, or write your own letter.

We provide the content for a different letter each week that tunes in to current developments in refugee and asylum seeker issues. We include instructions and links so you can quickly send it on to the relevant politician or minister.

WHAT TO DO

Send your letter (adapting our text if you wish) to Ms Karen Andrews: karen.andrews.mp@aph.gov.au (Minister for Home Affairs).
You could cc it to Ms Kristina Keneally: senator.keneally@aph.gov.au (Shadow minister for Immigration and Home affairs), and your local Federal MP.

Send the text to the Prime Minister via their website HERE, and to the immigration minister, Alex Hawke, HERE.

A letter from an individual carries weight with our representatives, because they assume for every person who bothers to write, there are many more who agree. Hence, we seek to make it easy for you to be persistent in expressing your concerns.
